About this speaker

Sonari Glinton is an award-winning journalist, podcaster, and producer. He's known for his work at NPR, This American Life, and Planet Money. He is also the host of Shattering The System, the podcast from Macro and iHeartPodcasts that investigates crimes and the systems that enable them.

Glinton’s passion for storytelling began at an early age, when he read Night by Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor and Nobel Laureate who later became his college professor at Boston University. Wiesel inspired Glinton to tell the hardest and most important stories, including the ones people don’t want to hear.

Throughout his career, Glinton has covered a wide range of topics, from politics and the economy to culture and entertainment. He has reported on the rise of Barack Obama, the Volkswagen diesel scandal, the Flint water crisis, and the #MeToo movement. He has also produced segments on culture phenoms such as, Desi Arnaz, Frank Sinatra, 9 to 5, and Soul Train.

Glinton is also committed to fostering the next generation of journalists and creating more diverse and inclusive newsrooms. He has collaborated with YR Media and co-created a virtual camp for teens during the pandemic. He also serves on the national board of Mikva Challenge, a nonprofit that supports civic education and participation for teens.
